A runaway lorry destroyed a wall, a street sign, railings and a lamp post outside St Austell railway station yesterday.
The lorry, carrying concrete blocks, started to roll down the hill after it is thought that the driver had climbed out.
No-one was injured.
A police spokesman said that it appeared that the driver exited the lorry's cab and went over to talk to a taxi driver when he "noticed the lorry starting to roll".
He added that the lorry "rolled down the hill going through the wall which separates the train station with High Cross Street, damaging the metal railings on the steps, a street sign and a light.
An investigation is underway.
