A CAMPER who thought it was a good idea to drive their car on a popular tourist beach and park there for the night suffered the consequences in the morning.

Portreath Coastguard Rescue team were called out to Portreath Beach this morning after receiving reports of a car stuck in the sand.

When they arrived they found the car had become well and truly stuck after the driver decided to drive on the beach last night in the dark. They had camped there overnight but when they woke up in the morning they found they couldn't move their vehicle.

A member of the public reported it but, despite the best efforts of the police it could not be moved. Eventually it was decided to put the owner of the car in contact with a local farmer who gave up his time to come and pull it off the beach.
