Drivers on the A30 are being warned to take care this lunchtime due to smoke blowing across the carriageway due to an incident at Kingsley Village.
Fire crews are at the Fraddon shopping complex, where vehicles are on fire.
Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service issued a warning just before 12.30pm to say: “We are currently responding to an incident at Kingsley Village following multiple 999 calls reporting vehicles on fire.
“If you are using the A30 please drive carefully as smoke may be affecting the carriageway.”
The fire service has since given further details about the incident, which was first called in at 11.48am.
It proved to be the first of 19 calls to 999 received by Fire Control, over a vehicle on fire which subsequently spread to another vehicle.
A fire crew from Newquay was sent first, but upon finding the fire had spread a second appliance was called in from Bodmin, along with a group manager.
Smoke can be seen from some distance and a cordon has been put in place to keep members of the public away while emergency services are at the scene.
A video on Twitter shows the fire to be involving vehicles in the M&S car park.

“Following reports that fire had spread to surrounding vehicles Fire Control made a decision to 'Make Pumps 2', and a second appliance was mobilised from Bodmin, along with a Group Manager.
“Prior to arrival the first crew reported there was a large volume of smoke in the distance, and on arrival confirmed two vehicles were well alight.
“Two firefighters wore breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets were used to extinguish the fire.
“Cordons were put in place to keep the public safe while the incident was resolved.”
