Is there a better way to launch yourself into Christmas festivities than with ice skating, coloured lights and a trip to see Santa himself?
The Cornwall Eden Project’s Christmas Experience is officially underway for 2024 and offers all this under one roof – or Biome.
We were fortunate enough to preview this year’s line-up – and there are a few new additions to enjoy.
These include even more lights in both the rainforest and Mediterranean Biomes, as well as a fairground carousel.
There is even the chance to control the lighting on the tree-lined walkway down – with three large ‘Tap me’ buttons like something out of Alice in Wonderland.
Those who love the tried and tested ‘Eden Experience’ each year need not fear however, as all the old favourites remain too.
The ice-skating rink is now back in full swing, and this year’s there are hot food options available right alongside it.
Snacks are also available in the Mediterranean Biome, where this year there is a light and sound show suspended in the Citrus Grove at multiple points throughout the evening.
Of course, no festive visit is complete without a trip to see Father Christmas, who this year resides in a brand new grotto.
He’s back with his band of elves, this year to tell children how music is the magic behind Christmas – and the elves have a fancy new musical contraption to demonstrate.
There is plenty of singing and general jollity to be had, before families are taken out into small groups to write their Christmas wish on a piece of paper – which is then delivered direct to Father Christmas on a model train.
It’s then on to see the big man himself, back in his workshop next door, for a quick chat, a photo and a small gift before heading out into the ‘snow’ – whatever the weather.
While waiting for your slot, craft activities in the nearby tipi include card and decoration making, with local choirs performing on some nights.
The Christmas Experience now runs on selected dates until January 5.
Tickets for Father Christmas and ice skating are on sale via the Eden Project website.
