After two long years of disruption St Piran's Day was celebrated in style in Falmouth today.

This year the festivities in the town have been centred around the Princess Pavilion, which is now back in the ownership of Falmouth Town Council.

A walking and dancing parade left Queen Mary Gardens at 10am and travelled along the seafront, with musicians and entertainers to bring drama and sound to the occasion.

It attracted participants of all ages, from babies in pushchairs to pensioners. There was plenty of black and white, and Cornish tartan, with members of the Cornwall Heritage Trust in costume.

At the head of the parade was the Cornish St Piran flag, immediately followed by the mayor and mayoress of Falmouth, Steve and Vicky Eva.

The parade then went into Gyllyngdune Gardens and to the Princess Pavilion, where there has been live music, dancing and family entertainment through the afternoon.

This has included story-telling, singing, art workshops, rock pooling, origami and ‘Cornish’ stalls.

There is also food and drink, including a licensed bar.
