Christmas at the Eden Project in Cornwall is now in full swing with a magical medley of music and light.
On select evenings up until Friday, December 30, the Mediterranean Biome is coming alive with an incredible immersive orchestra experience, adding a modern spin to some festive favourites and taking inspiration from 90s house classics.
A magnificent 11-piece orchestra can be discovered dotted around on multiple stages throughout the Biome, accompanied by a live DJ.
Sounds weave together to create a harmony of uplifting Christmas music, all while bathed in twinkling, ethereal lights.
The ensemble of local musicians, which includes strings, brass and piano accompanied by two powerful vocalists, is led by Musical Directors Matt Harrison and Patrick Bailey.
Across the sets, visitors can enjoy a total of 22 festive numbers including seasonal favourites “The Snowman” expertly intertwined with Insomnia by Faithless and Handel’s Messiah harmoniously woven with 8 Days of Christmas by Destiny’s Child.
The Rainforest Biome has been transformed into an enchanted forest world with stunning light displays gleaming beneath the canopy. Hundreds of suspended fibreoptic lights, glistening orbs, lasers and shimmering illuminations dance and bob amongst the rich foliage creating an immersive and calming journey in perfect balance to the high energy of the Mediterranean Biome.
By day, the Outdoor Gardens offer more than 24 acres of ever-changing colour and crisp leaves underfoot. As dusk falls, captivating light displays weave and wind around the pathways, while Eden’s glittering Tunnel of Lights leads to the glowing Biomes.
Eden’s Live Programmes Producer, Kate Francis, says: "We’ve really pulled out all the stops this year. Christmas at Eden is always brilliant fun to create.
"It allows people to experience the site in such a different way to normal, and this year we think all the colourful sights, sounds and stories to be discovered will really get people into the festive spirit.
"Father Christmas is back with his helpers and has proven extremely popular with families with just a few spaces remaining to book.
"Children get to meet Father Christmas and his elves and hear a magical story about Elfie the elf, whose first season on the job sees them overcoming their nerves and saving Christmas."
Other highlights of the season include Eden’s glittering ice rink, open right the way through until February 19, 2023, offering general 40-minute slots, lessons and family sessions.
A nourishing new menu of hearty winter warmers offers the ideal pitstop in the Link Kitchen, featuring seasonal dishes made from locally-sourced ingredients, including butternut mac ‘n cheese and squash and chickpea curry.
For residents of Devon and Cornwall, Eden’s Winter Locals’ Pass is available to purchase up until December 23, providing more than two-thirds off standard admission prices and granting access up to the end of March 2023.
The Eden Project Christmas experience is taking place on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from now, daily from December 15 right up until December 23, and then from December 27-30.
