A Lappa Valley fan travelled across Europe to share their big birthday celebrations with one of the attraction's locomotives.

The popular visitor attraction, near St Newlyn East, is home to "The Duke" which operates on their 10 1/4" gauge railway.

It celebrated its tenth birthday over the weekend, alongside another "Duke," sharing this special day.

Kaiden Duke, an enthusiastic young fan, also turned ten on the same day as the locomotive.

Since his first visit to Lappa Valley in September, Kaiden has been determined to celebrate his own 10th birthday at the attraction.

The Duke family, currently relocating from Spain to Lanlivery, even returned to the UK a week earlier than planned for the occasion.

When she discovered that the locomotive shared the same birth date, it was arranged for Kaiden to be part of the celebrations.

Ms Duke added: "I went onto the website and I saw that it was The Duke's 10th birthday too so I thought, wow, it's fate, isn't it?"

Kaiden was the guest of honour as visitors joined Lappa Valley's owner Keith Southwell to sing happy birthday to both Dukes.

Mr Southwell said: "Two Dukes with their 10th birthdays at the same time is such an incredible coincidence, and a great excuse for a double celebration.

"It was a pleasure to meet Kaiden and meet the whole Duke family.

"Thank you for being a part of our weekend of celebrations, and thank you to everyone who joined us."

Kaiden said: "It's pretty good having all those people singing to you, but it's confusing having the same name as a train!"
