A consultation over plans to build a hotel with up to 60 rooms on the site of the old Argos building is taking place this month.
A developer who specialises in building mid-range hotels and passing them on to hotel companies is currently at the pre-app stage of the application
The plan is to demolish the former Argos building in Berkeley Vale and replace it with a purpose built hotel.
Angela Warwick from Situ8 Planning Consultancy which is involved in the project along with Axion Architects, told the Packet that more detailed plans will be available at the consultation on November 30.
"We are proposing to knock down the old Argos building and start again with a hotel on the site.
"We are just going through the pre-app stage at the moment, talking to planners and highways. The architect design team is pulling together."
She said what was proposed was a mid-range hotel but there was no particular hotel operator lined up to take it on at the moment.

She said the developer, who has not been identified yet, specialises in building hotels all over the country before finding an end user.
"It will be a mid-range hotel," she said "Probably with around 60 bedrooms. Quite a big hotel but we haven't got the final plans yet. They will be available at the consultation.
The drop in consultation event takes place on Wednesday, November 30 from 3.30pm to 7.30pm in the former Argos building Berkeley Vale, Falmouth to look at the replacement of the former Argos building with a hotel.
The team will be available at the event to discuss the scheme, answer any questions and listen to comments.
