In the run up to the school holidays the Maritime Museum in Falmouth are |making two very |special additions to the displays in their Main Hall.
Firstly, to mark the 50th anniversary of Frank Dye’s “summer cruise” from Scotland to Norway, Wanderer will be making a welcome return from July 11.
Under the expert seamanship of Frank Dye, Wanderer has sailed over 40,000 |nautical miles, including a remarkable ocean crossing from Scotland to Norway in 1964.
And joining Wanderer in the Main Hall, from July 15 will be another remarkable |vessel - a boat made from 800 plastic bottles.
The six-metre trimaran, named Respect, was constructed last year by Cornish boat builder Andy Fox with the help of pupils from Fourlanesend School in South East Cornwall as part of a project to highlight the issue of waste.
Wanderer and Respect will be on display at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall throughout the summer.
