Following the sell-out of their headline show at the Eden Sessions, Manchester band Elbow have added a second date at the iconic Cornish venue.

The five-piece will be playing at the Eden Project on Tuesday July 15 in addition to their already-announced Monday July 14 show and, as with the first date, tickets will initially be available only to residents of Cornwall and Devon.

Elbow are joined by Dizzee Rascal (June 21), Ellie Goulding (July 8 – sold out) and Pixies (July 9) on the bill for the 2014 Eden Sessions with ASUS Transformer Book. More acts will be announced soon.

Rita Broe, Eden’s Marketing Director, said: “Demand for tickets for the first Elbow announcement was incredibly high so we’re very pleased to be able to offer a second date to fans who weren’t able to get tickets for the first show.

“The Eden shows are part of just a handful of gigs Elbow will play in the UK this summer.”

The concert will follow the recent release of their hotly-anticipated sixth studio album The Take Off and Landing of Everything, which was their first ever UK number one album.

Their latest album follows 2011’s platinum-selling Build a Rocket Boys! and 2008’s triple-platinum Mercury Music Prize-winning The Seldom Seen Kid.

Following the use of their One Day Like This track during the Beijing Olympics in 2008, the BBC commissioned Elbow to compose the theme for their coverage of 2012’s London games. First Steps was recorded with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. The band also performed at the closing ceremony of the London Olympics.

Elbow have been lavished with critical plaudits and awards, including a BRIT Award for Best British Group, the NME Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music and two Ivor Novello Awards, as well as being nominated for the Mercury Music Prize on three separate occasions, winning the award in 2008.

The band is fronted by Guy Garvey, who also hosts an acclaimed weekly radio show on BBC 6 Music. Other members are Mark Potter, Craig Potter, Richard Jupp and Pete Turner.

Elbow return to the Sessions after making their Eden debut in 2003.

The Eden Sessions enter their 13th year in 2014 following an acclaimed series of gigs in 2013 headlined by Jessie J, Sigur Ros, The xx, Kaiser Chiefs and Eddie Izzard.

Last year also saw the launch of Eden Sessions TV, a dedicated free-to-view online channel featuring regularly-updated videos of some of the gigs’ finest shows, including recently-uploaded footage from Muse’s legendary 2006 show (http://youtu.be/X0_yJ9VXu6U). The channel also live-streamed the second night of Jessie J’s sold-out double-header and has already had more than a million views since its launch.

Elbow have requested that fans in Cornwall and Devon get the first opportunity to purchase tickets before they go on sale to the rest of the country on April 22. This means that everyone who wants tickets before this date must have a payment card billing address in either Cornwall or Devon. All members of the Inside Track club will get early access to tickets as usual.

Tickets to the second Elbow Eden Session cost £40 plus £5 booking fee and go on sale to Inside Track members today (Thursday April 3), and on sale to residents of Cornwall and Devon at 6pm on Thursday April 10 and to everyone else at 6pm on Tuesday April 22.
