It's live music time again at Bunters bar in Truro and, after a successful gig by the up and coming Exelby last week, Bunters follows up with another great band on Thursday - The Ammunition.

The band are currently extremely popular on the Cornish circuit and tipped for big things this year - Joe and the band have been playing at Bunters for a couple of years now but are eagerly anticpated each time they play. There is free entry to the club all night and they are open until 11.30pm.

The band formed in Cornwall in June last year, with popular South West acoustic artist Joe Francis recruiting Ben "Westy" Westaway (guitars) and Ash "A-Train" James (drums) to back him up as a change from his increasingly popular solo shows. With musical and lyrical integrity Joe Francis and The Ammunition have become indelible figures on the local music scene.

The band has played with some of the UK's most popular acts in recent years including Courtney Pine, The Wire Daisies, Jack Johnson, Billy Bragg, The Subways, Donavon Frankenreiter and Alex Parks In June, 2005, The Ammunition began working with top producer Dare Mason (Prince, Elton John, Placebo, Paul McCartney, Thirteen senses) in his VIP lounge in Penzance. The result of this collaoration is "China white Dynamite", the debut EP from the group, which has been released independently. In its first fortnight it sold over a thousand copies across Cornwall.

In summer, 2006, The Ammunition performed live in Northern Ireland to 10,000 people to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the founding of Newtownards. Their debut album "The Lost William Testament" is currently being recorded at London's Abbey Road studios, with producer James Hallawell, and is due for release on his "Public Records" label across the UK this spring. It is expected that the same artistry that has afforded The Ammunition so much local success will carry them into the esteem of the greater public gallery.
