After a fantastic response from local talent the line up for the Cornish leg of the Red Stripe Music Awards has been chosen!

Rosie and The Goldbug (formerly known as Powderstrip), Glass Shark, The Fires and the newly signed Ruarri Joseph have all been added to the line up that will be headed by fellow Cornishman Luke Toms on 25th January at Bunters Bar in Truro.

This is a fantastic opportunity masterminded by Red Stripe, Barfly- The Great Escape Festival and Music Week coming together to present a fresh way of giving bands the start they need for a successful career in the music industry. At its core, the Red Stripe Music Award recognises the potential contribution of new and emerging artists across the UK.

Kicking off the evening will be one of the most exciting rock bands around in Cornwall at the moment The Fires. Currently being picked up for shows up and down the country these boys will be setting the night alight with a diverse sound citing influences ranging from At the Drive In to The Police!

They will be followed by electro indie 3 piece Glass Shark bringing you their Disco Robot after a very successful support slot with The Futureheads in Falmouth at the end of last year.

Ruarri Joseph will be next to hit the stage after wooing an encaptured audience at Newton Faulkners EP launch party. Recently signed to Atlantic Records this singer songwriter is definitely one to keep your eyes on in 2007!

Cornwall's very own Kate Bush meets Tori Amos Rosie & The Goldbug are up next brandishing their very unique piano led power pop sound with a definite bite - last seen causing a storm at the infamous Jingle Hells Christmas bash this lot can't put a foot wrong in the south west music scene at the moment.

Headlining the eclectic evening will be Truro's very own Luke Toms.

With ever eclectic tastes and influences ranging from David Bowie and Supertramp and Freddie Mercury with a hint of pre war jazz Toms has recently been touring with The Zutons, The Feeling and Mika touting his glam ridden bluesy pop.

Luke will be donning his boater and sporting his famous handlebar moustache to headline the Red Stripe Music Award Event in Truro and is looking forward to playing his biggest homecoming show so far.

The RSMA will kick off with 17 sponsored events around the UK taking the best talent from each region. The RSMA presentation will take place at a profile London venue in April.

This is an invaluable opportunity for bands to gain exposure to key industry players as well as providing opportunities to play live shows and festivals across the country supporting major artists.
