The Den, a new event for showcasing the phenomenal live music talent in the area, brings Coventry upstarts The Ripps to the Tremough campus in Penryn supported by two of Cornwall's finest.

The Den uses the slightly smaller "Upper Stannary", for its gigs, for a more intimate gig than those of the whole venue, bringing a much-needed venue to the area for those not-quite-so-big bands that find the local pub too small or Princess Pavillions too big.

Highlighted in NME's recent Radar Special The Ripps arrive to play The Den Sessions in the upper Stannary as part of The Midlands Invasion'.

Their current single Loco', serves as a great example of The Ripps sound; fast, furious & fun. It's punk power pop effusive as early Supergrass, but with an outsider edge more fully realized on the album that stems from brothers Patch (guitar and lead vocals), & Raul Lagunas (bass), whose parents were political activists in General Pinochle's Chile, living in exile in the UK since the 70's. Joining them on drums & vocals is close friend Rachel Butt, the trio forming in the autumn of 2003, through a shared love of legends such as The Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Buzzcocks and The Kinks, and of course the city of Coventry (check out the flip of Loco' by the way for their take on Cov heros The Specials Too Much Too Young'). Indeed the lyrics and astonishing energy of The Ripps is fuelled, in part, by their own love/ hate relationship with their hometown.

Glass Shark are an explosive power trio who want to make your feet move and your body rock. Although they've only been playing together since May this exciting new band is already starting to make waves. Originally scattered around the British Isles, the band now all reside in North Cornwall. Guitarist, Jimmy Green and bass player, Matt Anderson previously played together in indie-rock combo, The 25th Hour while drummer/singer, Tam Johnstone (the son of Elton Johns lead guitarist) has toured and recorded with the likes of Mojave 3, Louis Eliot and Jaguar.

Nate_seacourt make their return to The Den, to bring their mix of break beat, indie, electronica from DJ/Producer Nathan Barnett and vocalist/producer Dan Perry.
