Next in the Fal Folk programme at the Princess Pavilion in Falmouth is Son of Dave, who is appearing on Sunday, March 4, on the patio stage.
As a one-man band, he is steadily becoming renowned for a sound completely his own as he creates a mountain of rhythm and blues unlike anything heard before. The sound starts with harmonica, is joined by human beat-box grooves, and is completed by a haunting voice.
He was a member of Crash Test Dummies for 12 years, and currently records and performs with Martina Topley Bird (formerly of Tricky).
He's also performed with the likes of Neil Young and Spinal Tap, and more recently with the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion.
Son of Dave brings the blues kicking and howling into the modern world without pretension or thievery. The doors open at 7.30pm, with the first set at 8pm. Tickets are £7 in advance on 01326 211222 and £8.50 on the door.
Blues fans are in for another real treat at the Pavilion on Friday, March 9, in the shape of Tony "TS" McPhee.
The legendary Groundhogs frontman is a true guitar hero, one of the original 1960s British blues revival, Bluesmen, with a pedigree as long as your arm.
Following the break up of the Groundhogs in 2004, Tony is now back to his roots playing raw acoustic blues. His new album, Blues At Ten, was written with half an ear to the old traditions of blues. He has written classic songs that marry old and modern themes, offset with arrangements of traditional songs by his heroes.
The set for the evening is a vibrant mix of acoustic and electric styles, featuring material from the new album, blues classics and solo versions of Groundhogs favourites, and duets with his partner, Joanna Deacon, interspersed with anecdotes and chat to make for a truly memorable evening. The show starts 8pm, with tickets at £8 in advance on 01326 211222 or £10 on the door.
