Newton Faulkner's debut album Handbuilt by Robots' stormed into the UK album chart this weekend at no.3 along with current single Dream Catch Me' which climbed nine places up the single's chart to no.7!
Newton has announced details of his Autumn tour, where fans will be able to see him perform for the first time with a band. Starting in Glasgow on November 15th and finishing in Truro's Hall For Cornwall on Tuesday 4th December.
Local promoters SW1 Productions said "we are thrilled to be announcing this show, many people think that Newton is actually from Cornwall, (which he isn't)! as his profile really began to rise after a support slot with surfer/singer songwriter Donavon Frankenreiter at the Hall For Cornwall in June 06 - "Newton's myspace was literally buzzing after that show and from there we quickly brought him back to Cornwall for a handful of intimate summer surf bar shows where he continued to make friends and fans all over the county" says Katy Thomas from SW1.
October 2006 saw him headline his first sell out show at the Acorn in Penzance and less than 6 months later he was back at the Pavilion in Falmouth with folk songstress Kate Walsh delighting his ever growing Cornish fanbase.
"Newton has the rare ability to be able to engage with every member of an audience, he seamlessly combines achingly beautiful songs like Lullaby' with the hilarity of his now famous Sponge Bob Square Pants'" continues Katy.
So it's no wonder that this Saturday the 11th August will see Newton once again return to Cornwall to perform at the Rip Curl Boardmasters' Unleashed Music Festival at Watergate Bay, where he will play (around 5.30pm) on the mainstage joining huge names such as Paolo Nutini, Guillemots and Scott Matthews.
Tickets for the Hall For Cornwall show are £12.50 and available from www.seetickets.com 0871 2200260 (subject to booking fee) and the venue box office 01872 262466 (subject to theatre fund charge).
