FOLLOWING the success of the first Tolmen Centre Guitar Symposium two years ago, the Tolmen Centre is delighted to announce that the event will return to Constantine from March 5 to 8. Under the artistic direction once again of international lutenist Ben Salfield, it promises to be every bit as exciting as the last one.

The festival itself will take a slightly different format from last time, with each of the four days having a distinct flavour, and the evening concert each day being two hours long: and featuring a smorgasbord of acts as well as that day’s headline performer.

The headline acts each night are quite something. Confirmed for the Thursday is Jethro Tull guitarist Mick Abrahams, who will be giving masterclasses in the morning as well as his solo acoustic set in the evening. Friday night sees a double bill headline: psychedelic blues rock band The Moon Music Orchestra, and Stonephace, the exciting new four piece band featuring Larry Stabbins (Working Week) and Adrian Uttley (Portishead). Saturday’s classical day is headlined by the outstanding Silesian Guitar Octet – eight of Eastern Europe’s finest guitarists. Sunday is Early Music day, and the renowned Daughters of Elvin round off the whole symposium with their very own multi-instrumental renaissance style. Tickets for each evening will be £10.

Reflecting the popularity of the 2006 festival, the organisers are delighted that Classic Cottages has chosen to sponsor the four-day long event for the second time. SITA have also lent their sponsorship this time around.

If you’d like to receive more information about the Symposium, send your email address to tolmen@constantinecornwall.com or your postal address to the Tolmen Centre, Fore St, Constantine, and they’ll send you a full programme as soon as it’s published.
