TRURO Cathedral Choir have been given the tremendous privilege of performing live on BBC Radio 3. They will sing Choral Evensong on Wednesday, January 28 at 4pm in the Cathedral.

If you are around Truro on Wednesday then you might want to come along. You could be part of a live outside broadcast! Not just any old live outside broadcast but the longest-running-outside broadcast in the world. Live Choral Evensong was first broadcast on Thursday, October 7 1926 from Westminster Abbey and has been broadcast weekly on BBC Radio ever since.

Christopher Gray, Musical Director at the Cathedral, explains: “Choral Evensong is really a ‘sung’ service, where the choir sings prayers, psalms and even part of the Bible, all these have been put to music by some of our greatest composers through the ages, such as Byrd, Howells and Parry. It is a fantastic honour to be asked to take part, we are absolutely thrilled. If people would like to come to the service they should take their seats by 3.45pm.
