AUDIENCES in Truro can enjoy a star-studded tribute concert to Luciano Pavarotti, held in the ancient city of Petra, Jordan - at their local cinema in February.

The Pavarotti Tribute concert, devised by the late Italian tenor's wife and organised by promoter Harvey Goldsmith, brought together stars from the classical and popular worlds on what would have been Pavarotti's 73rd birthday in October 2008, to perform in front of a glittering crowd of musicians, celebrities and royalty at the world heritage site. Against a breathtaking natural amphitheatre, Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras sang together for the first time since Pavarotti's death heralded the end of the "Three Tenors". Andrea Boccelli performed from Tosca, and was joined by others to sing from Puccini's La Boheme; whilst Sting performed "La Ci Darem" from Don Giovanni with opera star Angela Gheorghiu, and U2 frontman Bono gave a tribute message to the master. Other performers included Andrea Griminelli, Zucchero, Jovanotti, Laura Pausini, all supported by the Prague Philharmonia Orchestra.

The concert was captured on camera and More2Screen will bring a 90-minute edited version in high definition and surround sound to cinema audiences. The film is showing at Truro Plaza on February 4 and 8.
