Falmouth and Exeter University's amateur drama society (Feccles) are bringing to life Tom Stoppard’s The Real Inspector Hound at The Poly on February 7 and 8.
Critics, Moon and Birdboot, have come to the theatre to cast their critical eye over a new murder mystery - but what they find will test their analytical skills far more than just symbolism and narrative.
Someone is using the whodunit-style play as a backdrop for a mysterious and murderous plot of their own. As the plot unfolds, Birdboot and Moon find that the actresses involved in scandalous love affairs may actually have eyes for them; the motivations of the individual characters eerily match their own and that there may be a reason why there’s a dead body on stage which seemingly bears no relevance to the play itself.
Both men must piece together the mystery themselves before the play reaches its inevitable and fatal end.
FECCLES’ production of Stoppard’s farcical and |ingenious comedy makes a wicked commentary on how theatre, critics and actors feed off of one another.
With great comic timing and a melodrama, this parody of the typical English Murder Mystery will delight audiences at The Poly.
Performances take place on February 7 and 8 from 7.30pm, doors open at 7pm. Tickets are available from The Poly box office 01326 319461, or online at thepoly.org. Tickets are £7 or £5 for concessions before February 3, £8/£6 after this date.
