The unanimously acclaimed West End production of The Woman In Black begins its ninth tour of the UK this month and calls at Hall for Cornwall from January 29 to February 3.

Now in its 18th year in the West End, The Woman In Black is one of the most successful plays ever staged, having been seen by over three million people worldwide.

Stephen Mallatratt's adaptation of Susan Hill's novel tells the story of a lawyer who is obsessed with a curse that he believes has been cast over him and his family by the spectre of a 'Woman in Black'.

He engages a sceptical young actor to help him tell his story and exorcise the fear that grips his soul. It begins innocently enough, but as they reach further into his darkest memories, they find themselves caught up in a world of eerie marshes and moaning winds. The borders between make believe and reality begin to blur and the flesh begins to creep.

Robert Demeger takes the role of Arthur Kipps with Mark Healy as the Young Actor. Both actors have played the same roles previously in the West End.

Robert Demeger's theatre work includes Deborah Warner's production of Julius Caesar and Polonius in Ninagawa's Hamlet, both at the Barbican and on tour, as Nightingale in Vieux Carr at the Manchester Library Theatre, Gremio in The Taming of the Shrew at the Theatre Royal Plymouth and on tour.

Mark Healy's theatre work includes Hamlet for the Northcott Theatre Exeter, Darcy in the UK tour of Pride and Prejudice and Gerald Croft in the National Theatre's An Inspector Calls on tour.

The production is directed by Robin Heresford, with designs by Michael Holt and lighting by Kevin Sleep. It is presented on tour by PW Productions.

Performances start at 8pm from Monday, January 29, to Saturday, February 3, with 2.30pm matinees on the Wednesday and Saturday. Tickets are priced £9.50 to £18.25 with concessions plus a 75p Theatre Fund payment on each ticket sold. Contact the HfC Box Office on 01872 262466.
