Rambert continues to set high standards of performance and innovation - its current crop of 22 exceptional dancers is as talented, technically gifted, fit and gorgeous as any in the world.
Throughout its existence, Rambert - which returns to Hall for Cornwall in February - has nurtured, supported and propelled the careers of some of the finest British choreographers of the 20th century, including Frederick Ashton, Michael Clark, Siobhan Davies, Richard Alston, Christopher Bruce and Mark Baldwin and this policy remains today.
Groundbreaking collaborations with artists, musicians, composers, costume, set and lighting designers have also always been an integral part of Rambert's artistic values.
The company remains the only modern dance company to tour permanently with an associate orchestra, London Musici - whose players, under the musical direction of Paul Hoskins, are as versatile as the dancers, switching effortlessly between musical styles, and superbly enhancing the overall Rambert experience.
The programme features Pond Way, by legendary choreographer Merce Cunningham, a cool, contemplative and technically awesome piece, the elegant and elaborate Swamp by modern dance icon Michael Clark, along with Mark Baldwin's restaging of Rambert's seminal 1939 work by Andre Howard, Lady into Fox.
Rambert recently became a partner company of Hall for Cornwall, and this diverse programme brilliantly demonstrates why it remains at the forefront of British modern dance.
The performances start at 8pm on Wednesday, February 14, and Thursday, February 15, with a Thursday matinee at 2.30pm. Tickets are priced £10 to £20.50 plus concessions. Tickets for schools / college groups (15 or more) are £6. There will be a 75p Theatre Fund payment on each ticket sold. Contact the Box Office on 01872 262466.
