St Austell Players bring award-winning French drama to the stage this March with Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt's contemporary metaphysical play Between Worlds translated by John Clifford.
As a series of characters check in and out of an "hotel", both they and the audience are unsure of where they have come from or indeed what fate awaits them when the lift doors close.
Colin (played by Carl Boyer) is a man who works hard and plays even harder, unaware of the impact his selfish and desperate actions have on others. He remembers nothing of what brought him to this surreal establishment with its mute staff, clinical Dr S and eclectic mix of guests. But, on meeting the luminous Laura, he discovers the reason for his presence there and is forced to confront his all too real situation. Can he change? Can any of us?
The Players invite you to check in for an evening suspended on the delicate thread between dreams and truth, on the edge of dark comedy and resting in the twilight gap between life and death.
Directed by Dorothy Nelson, St Austell Players' latest production Between Worlds performs Wed 7th to Sat 10th March at 7.30pm at St Austell Arts Theatre, Truro Road. Ticket: £6.00 Box Office: 01726 72289 or call in at ACT Estate Agents, 5-6 Market Street, St Austell (note: play contains strong language).
