WHAT is it with some of the small-minded Cornish people who want to keep Cornwall only for the born and bred Cornish? I refer to the article in the Packet dated December 27 "Bring back traditional values at Radio Cornwall." I am a "foreigner" and an "emmet" as I come from Guernsey, and I have been living in Cornwall for four years now, and I am sick and tired of reading of these petty-minded people always harping on about how the Cornish should stop "outsiders" entering Cornwall. These "outsiders" bring a lot of money to the Duchy by holidaying here and visiting the local attractions and if it was not for them where would the county be now?
I started my business here (from money I earn elsewhere) and it is to help the sole trader and small business whilst they are starting up, and then you read somebody being pathetic in their beliefs of patriotism.
Perhaps the person at the end of his letter has got it right: "They can go back across the Tamar whence they came." Why not build a Berlin-style wall. The "emmets" will not get in, but more importantly bigots like you will not get out.
