I AM sure many people in Falmouth enjoyed the good display of lights around the town, thanks to our local council and to those who put them up.
Our shops also were very bright and attractive, adding to the enjoyment of shopping before Christmas. But what a pity that in our still Christian country and town, there was little to show that the celebration was for the anniversary of the birth of Christ - which is a fact of history even for non-Christians.
I may be wrong, but the only outward display of what this festival was celebrating, was the nativity scene outside St Mary's RC Church - well done.
A day trip to St Mawes showed us a pleasant contrast, where several nativity's were to be seen, one of particular significance was a beautiful Nativity scene in the Victory Inn - yes, there was room in that inn after all!
