I would like to express concern through your columns at the fad that seems to have occurred amongst some of the Falmouth hotels for nouvelle cuisine. Last week I dined at two of the larger and established hotels and was bitterly disappointed at the quantities. The food quality was good. On the second occasion customers on two nearby tables (one of 12 people, the other of three) had similar concerns.

It seems to me that this has just become an excuse for certain restaurants to serve as little food as posible for the price paid. I would not have thought it possible to cut cheese in such thin slices.

One of the meals I had consisted of a thin steak wrapped around and concealing a miroscopic portion of vegetables. It would be good if such restaurants displayed indications that their food was nouvelle cuisine so as to inform potential customers.

Perhaps in the same way that we witnessed the Campaign for Real Ale, there should now be a Campaign for Real Food, with a guide published and a symbol displayed at relevant restaurants.
