I WRITE with reference to the letter from your anonymous writer regarding Cornwall Connected on Radio Emmet (Packet, January 3). I agree with his comments and I too would like to know what has happened to Cornwall Celebrates.

I wonder what other readers make of this? Chris Stumbles used to host an excellent weekend request programme on named station. A certain lady stood in for him while he was away. Responding to a gentleman's request she said something like: "Oh, I couldn't possibly play that, it is far too miserable!" before substituting a record of the station's chosing. This on a listeners' request programme! Was this political correctness, the usual English arrogance, or just plain ignorance?

Radio Cornwall "proper" was started by the Cornish for the Cornish. Would anyone at Radio Emmet care to tell us what has become of Nina Davey, Chris Stumbles, David Prowse, Jack Andrew, Jan de Pries and Dick and Jan Yendle?

F Davis, Truro

GOOD riddance to "Cornwall Celebrates." Churches are the place to go if people are religious. I am not and don't class such things as entertainment on local radio.

Mr G Williams, Fords Row, Redruth

WHY has Radio Cornwall stopped saying "good morning" in the Cornish language? I hope they have not allowed themselves to be intimidated by the Packet's ghastly Skipper column! No doubt they'll be using a Polish greeting soon just to keep The Skipper happy!
