Councillor Cramp in his letter in last week's Packet did not sign off as a Liberal Democrat. He supports the abolition of district councils and this seems to tie in with the pro-EU stance of Liberal Democrats.
We already have an additional tier of government with regional bodies supported by many county councillors at a cost to taxpayers. The European Union has proposals to break up England into regions with regional assemblies and this ties in with the pro-EU fanatics.
It comes as no surprise therefore to find a Liberal Democrat proposing that district councils should be abolished. Regional bodies would then be likely to take a more important role and so we would still have three tiers of local government with a continuing cost to taxpayers.
The South West is suffering because the government is not increasing funding in many areas, preferring to support areas where New Labour has representation. Liberal Democrats are not the Westminster opposition and so the South West is suffering until there are more New Labour and Conservative MPs. I do not support any political party but isn't it time we had a change in the South West and Cornwall in particular so Name and address supplied
