-Numbers are a funny thing. At the moment all the good numbers seem to be going down and the bad up.
The news that shoplifting for food has soared is hardly surprising although very depressing. Nor is it surprising that use of our local foodbank is booming. We see everyday the desperate state many people find themselves in.
Police and Police Support Officers are reducing here in Cornwall and police backroom staff have been so reduced they have to employ temps to cope. When did you last see a police officer on the beat? And for goodness sake the front desk in Falmouth Police station is going to become a coffee shop.
We then learn that the super expensive Police Commissioner Mr Hogg spends £7,000 on promtional materials for himself. And the government want our overstretched and underfunded police to go to Northern Ireland for the NATO summit and all points north while our visitor numbers go up. Do they think we are all mad and won't notice?
The only number I am really interested in is May 7 when we can vote this lot out.
Cllr Adam Crickett,
Camborne
