I read with interest in last week's Packet that the police have denied that Maxine Carr is living in the Penryn area. I would like to ask why it has taken so long for the denial to be made.

Rumours about Maxine Carr living in this area have been doing the rounds for months and have been causing concern to many people, especially those of us with young children. The internet even said she was living in Cornwall. Surely the police should have acted earlier to put our minds at rest.
