WELL said Wendy Harris (Stop building factories in our countryside, Packet letters, January 31).
What a sad state the new monstrosity is causing at the bottom of Budock hill. How many trees did they fell to get their new, very dangerous entrance put in? Why didn't they have access put in at the top of the industrial estate and leave the trees to cover the ugly thing they're building?
My dog was killed on Bickland Water Road last year. The council has a bitty hedge and open steps leading out onto Bickland Water Road where cars regularly exceed the speed limit and zoom past the football club going out towards Longfield. If they must persist in building on this site and increasing the traffic flow something needs to be done about controlling the speed on this road. It is also very difficult for Budock residents to get onto Bickland Water Road at busy periods.
My suggestion is a roundabout at the bottom of Budock Hill, and a proper solid barrier across the Tregonnigie green belt to protect the public, who are trying to enjoy the one bit of countryside that is left around there. Perhaps the owners of the new, very expensive, factory would like to give something back to the community and fund this?
I also hear that the council has passed planning permission for an Eco park on the opposite side of the road. This is where people work and live on the same site. Yipee! Even more traffic!
