The Skipper hit the nail on the head in one of his excellent recent columns: councils must release land for building on if the current housing crisis is to be resolved.
That is exactly what Carrick council is doing by moving the rugby club to Bickland Water Road and thereby releasing the recreation ground for housing, including affordable homes for local youngsters. Shouldn't we therefore all be applauding our councillors for doing something positive for a change? Instead, we get nothing but constant bickering.
What do these moaners want? Do they want everything to stand still with no improvements to our community? The council is making it possible for Falmouth to have a fantastic new rugby ground and desperately needed houses. What more could we ask for? Nothing ever gets achieved in Falmouth because everything that is suggested results in the formation of a protest group. It seems those in charge just can't win!
