WOULD the town councillors who attend regular meetings with Carrick district council like to comment, through your paper, on the fact that the cleaning of the railings out at the seafront has been deferred yet again. Bearing in mind our town has a presentation to make next year to the world - the Tall Ships Race!
In recent correspondence with the principal parks manager for Carrick, Jon James, he stated: "We have been monitoring the condition of the railings over the past few months and have formed an opinion that in some areas the brownish stains on the railings have reduced. We have decided to monitor and review this situation to see how significant the reduction in this staining can be achieved before we engage the services of a contractor to clean the railings."
It appears once again that the needs of our town, once the gem of the Cornish Riviera, is being put on the back burner. I am out at the seafront virtually every day. Believe you me the staining to the railings is getting worse. If something isn't done we are going to wind up with another set of rotten teeth out at the seafront. Come on you councillors - put the boot in!
