I SUPPOSE it's easy to poke fun at a consultation called "speed dating" but Skipper accepts he does not have a clue what was going on.
The county council, the district councils, the colleges and other agencies were consulting with people in Cornwall about what should go into their Gender Equality Schemes, required by law by April this year. I was proud to be there representing, amongst others, the National Union of Teachers and discussing with the agencies how men women and, yes, transgender people, can all be dealt with fairly over employment, access and other aspects of their daily lives.
The speed dating name was to ensure that each consultation was efficient and that valuable time was not wasted ... and it worked! Perhaps next time your so-called Skipper should consult other people and find out what is going on before he rushes to print to condemn a little democracy in action.
