IT does seem a case of "Let's teach them a lesson" if anyone dares to criticise their service. I am, of course, talking about our local bus service that supposedly serves the Boslowick and Swanvale area of Falmouth. The infamous No 68. The bus service that no one in any authority seems able to sort out to the benefit of those that use it. The involvement of our local MP was a complete waste of time for the service has worsened considerably since. I'm sure our problem is now at the bottom of her priority list.

Instead of two buses an hour we now have one. Instead of the last bus into town being at 22.26 it is now 17.11. The last bus home was at 23.10, it is now 17.43. Sunday's we have no bus service at all.

It certainly seems by looking at the new route of the 68 that the area of Boslowick and Swanvale has been by-passed. The route taken, almost as a token gesture, enters the Boslowick area at Mongleath Avenue taking in one request stop. It then turns into Bosmeor Road where there are no request stops and then joins Bickland Water Road, which takes the bus onto Goldenbank. By simply proceeding down the length of Mongleath Avenue and turning into Boslowick Road, then joining Bickland Water Road at its junction, the bus would take in five request stops. Not too difficult for anyone who is really interested in providing a service for the community. I can only conclude that the cutting of the main Boslowick and Swanvale areas after 17.43 Monday to Saturday and totally on Sunday's was an act of spite rather than calculated logic. Hence my opening statement.

This removal of our bus service seems to be at total odds with the government's wishes that more of us should leave our cars at home and jump on a bus to ease congestion on the roads and improve the environment. If only we had a bus to jump on! Thanks to "First" we don't, not after 17.43 anyway.

As usual the support from those in authority was either non-existent or detrimental to our cause, so thanks for nothing.
