I would refer to Mr F Bear's letter - does he exist? He is not on the electoral register, so I assume that he is new to Falmouth and has no knowledge of the precipitate decline that has occurred in the town in the last year or so. I suggest he gets himself informed and apologises to Mrs Merrett.
Falmouth never was God's waiting room! We had a thriving fishing industry, a thriving docks and many other industries, but the working people of this town are being priced out of the affordable houses as they are being converted to council tax-free student accommodation. The only people benefiting from this tax holiday are the landlords, who are thus able to charge students more rent than non-students.
I can only assume that Mr Stevens doesn't hear the noise if he is not aware of how unpleasant Marlborough Road has become. It used to be one of the best roads in Falmouth with lovely houses; many are now vandalised and poorly maintained. Take a walk down your own road Mr Stevens.
Shades Nightclub seems to be over- populated by those who appear young and rather rowdy, and may well be contributing to the excessive drinking that is blighting the town in the evenings, and discouraging the proper use of the town. There seems to be a smashed shop front most weekends, lots of litter and vomit in the streets and an increasing number of rats.
Thank heavens that we have people like Diana Merrett who have the guts to speak out about what is going on. Most people I have spoken to agree with her.
