Single council a step closer -just read the article in the Packet with this title. As this proposal is now going to the consultation stage it is extremely important that the correct issues are discussed.
I think, to start with, it is important that reports in the media are accurate.
Your article states all the districts in Cornwall will be abolished if the proposal goes ahead. The truth is that if the proposal goes ahead all six districts and Cornwall county council will be abolished.
There will be a new unitary council which will be just that, new. There will have to be elections for the councillors and recruitment of staff, all new.
It is not a case of Cornwall county council taking over as your article seems to suggest.
