Now that the candidates have been finalised for the district council elections on May 3, it is clear that only the Liberal Democrats are committed to our local community in Camborne and Redruth.
In many wards, Labour has failed to find any candidates - a sure sign that it is a party in decline. Unsurprisingly, it would also seem that the Tories and UKIP appear to be working together in a spirit of co-operation. In areas such as Redruth, where UKIP - a single issue group with nothing to say about local problems - have pulled several candidates out of the woodwork, the Conservatives have failed to stand against them. Could this be because there is little difference between the two? Such a colluding force, lacking any detailed policies, would be a disaster for the area.
Only the Liberal Democrats, with our track record of working in the local community, have detailed policies to cut crime, increase recycling and provide more affordable housing.
David Ekinsmyth, chair of Camborne, Redruth and Hayle Liberal Democrats
