IN support of Skipper's comments on the Liberal Democrat's newspaper from County Hall, these comments also need to be published: My arguments against the new county council newspaper included figures that show that this Lib Dem newspaper will have to be subsidised by Cornwall's council tax payers. Lib Dems admit that the law requires certain jobs and information, via public notices, must still be advertised by local newspapers.

This subsidy will increase the county council communications budgets to about £1.3 million per year. Your readers should know that the editor's post and three extra staff required were jobs advertised before the final decision to have the newspaper had been made! So much for Liberal Democrats in action.

God forbid that the Liberal Democrat plans for all Cornwall's district councils to be abolished and everything run from Truro and County Hall goes ahead.

The Liberal Democrats will "as the Tory group leader put it in a recent county council debate" truly be running Cornwall as a one-party state.
