Julia Goldsworthy banging on about the lack of government funding of the county council being the reason why it is considering shutting fire stations overnight would be laughable if it were not such a serious matter.
Has she not heard that this so-called cash strapped council is planning on launching its own newspaper? There is obviously enough available cash floating about in some departments. In which case why don't they cut the crap and spend the money on something more worthwhile?
I am pretty sure I would rather have the fire brigade turn up at my burning house at 3am as quickly as they could rather than have a copy of some half- rate council newspaper contributing to the blaze in the recycling pile!
