In response to Miss R L Sampson who asked. "Are they really charging as much as this?" it would appear I didn't quite receive the latest information.
Cornwall county council, which is controlled by the Liberal Democrats, depending on savings and level of disability, increased the cost of care in your own home, from £77 maximum per week last year to a maximum of £210 per week, having recently put it up by a further £10 can you believe! Apart from that it is £18 for lunch at Age Concern and an extra £10 for a bath.
Furthermore, the transport vehicle, which I understand was purchased by donation from the public, who really appreciate the efforts made by the excellent staff at Age Concern, is now no longer available on Sundays. But for a few pounds extra you can arrive by taxi!
All these cuts in services to the people who really need help will instead help to pay for a lovely new computer at HQ and a nice "free" paper to read.
Let's hope the electorate send out a clear message on Thursday. We cannot continue down this road. It's time we started giving to the old people and stopped "mugging" them as the Lib Dems are doing whilst making sure they are looking after themselves.
