WITH reference to the recent account and follow-up letter (August 22), I feel I must point out the omission of a tribute to three stalwart founders of what many would consider to be the start of a club for Falmouth youngsters.
I refer to the husband and wife team, Harry and Nina Hannaford, together with Ron Williams. I understand from some former members that they started the youth club using the Quarry School premises for numerous activities that they organised.
To those of shorter memory, the Quarry School was situated in what is now the Quarry car park, from where it was relocated (and expanded) to Trescobeas Road, now renamed Falmouth Community School.
The youth club was very successful for many years under the Hannaford's leadership and their helpers, and there must be many still in Falmouth who owe them a big thank you for all they did with such dedication to so many young people.
Good luck, and thank you, to those who are now doing the same today.
