WE were sent a copy of your story about the farewell gathering of Bishop Bill and it was a joy to see him again.
We remember him when he was vicar of Popley in Hampshire in the 1970s and 1980s. We have never met such a wonderful "person of the cloth" before or since - always approachable, caring and, most of all, humourous beyond belief! He was known affectionately as the "Sheriff of Popley." We would like to wish him and Frances all the very best for his retirement.
