I WRITE in response to Councillor Mennear's letter printed in the Packet on September 26 ("Minister simply passed the buck on road inquiry").
I have to say I was somewhat surprised to read of his disappointment not to receive a personal response from Mr Bradshaw on the issue of proposed overdue works to the A30. As a councillor I would have thought he would understand a system of delegation. If I were to write to the owner of Chelsea football club to complain about the inflated admission prices I would not expect Mr Abramavich himself to reply! It is not to say the reply I would get would not be well informed and representative of the views of his organisation.
To be under the illusion that every letter should be responded to personally is absurd and completely out of touch with the realities of modern day business. Then again, maybe we shouldn't expect too much from our councillors!
