The announcement that someone is looking at converting this building [Waterside House, Falmouth Road, Penryn into student accommodation I believed not to be a good consideration.
First of all you need to consider the outcome of the large tower block on Kernick Industrial Estate which is still to be resolved which is currently in liquidation I believe by the developers, but ultimately I’m sure it will come back on stream. That’s for 550 students to be confirmed by the University.
Secondly that building is housing a large number of small SME’s (small businesses) which have know where to relocate. For many years there are not enough small industrial units for small businesses to take up space in, it would be criminal to close all these businesses down.
Students naturally will want to be close to their campus or live in the town.
Something else for you and the developers to investigate before a decision is given approval.
