Over the years I have watched the streets of Falmouth becoming ever more filthy. Yes, it is a disgrace and an appalling statement of our town. The cleaners do a good job but why keep clearing up a mess? The mess needs to be stopped in the first place.
For councillors to complain is pointless. It's their job to plan and take action to reduce/stop the mess, not to blame Carrick for not cleaning it up properly! Black bags, irresponsible householders, tenants and retailers and businesses are the main problem. It's an open invitation for a daily early morning feast for the gulls and by 7am the streets of our town are disgusting.
Stop the bags, they don't work! Take action against offenders - you know who and where they are - and start culling the gulls. Get them out of town. It's easily done to break the nesting and breeding cycle. If rats flew around and crapped all over you and were tearing up our rubbish bags there would be an outcry and action! Herring gulls in a town are worse and, yes, they do spread infections ! Come on councillors take some action and stop the mess !
