I don't suppose for one moment that you will print this letter, but I've just got to get it off my chest now, because my wife and I head for home tomorrow and we are not sorry to be going. Our first visit is also our last. Don't get me wrong, I mean, not everything is bad about Falmouth. Let me try to itemise things in for and against lists.

For: 1, the guest house was first class; 2, the sea front, gardens and beach are fabulous.

Against: 1, Falmouth is filthy; 2, the volume of traffic and the horrible cobble stones in the main street are dangerous to limb and life; 3, the drivers through town just don't care about the pedestrians, and the street parking creates dangerous black spots; 4, the town centre waterside car park should be closed during the holiday season, and all traffic banned from the centre, but that will never happen because I understand that it makes more money for the council than any other car park in Cornwall; 5, tourists should be warned that the town pubs are expensive, and usually full of badly dressed, drunken, foul mouthed, noisy teenagers; 6, I saw cases of drug use in the town public toilets; 7, we were informed by the guest house owners that most of the art students are away for their summer break - all I can say is God help Falmouth when the building is eventually finished and the expected 10,000 students are let loose to wreak havoc.

To sum up, what a dump! It begins to look to an outsider that the council might just be starting to drive tourists and holidaymakers away. Let's face it, the students will need all the guest houses, or perhaps a massive home building scheme is hidden away somewhere. I'm glad we don't live here.
