I write to express my concern regarding the memorial situated at Pennance Point on the coastal path.
It was dedicated to members of the Home Guard who kept watch out to sea during World War 2. It was fitting that a memorial be erected, including an inscription and seating arrangement, in their remembrance and for the benefit of walkers seeking rest and tranquillity.
The seat was vandalised some time ago, removed and never replaced. I wonder if the organisation who authorised its construction now realise that perhaps it will be no more if not restored and properly maintained.
I consider that the surrounding area and pathway leading to the memorial should be made good and consideration given for ease of its maintenance. It is important for posterity that citizens of Falmouth and its visitors are reminded of the past conflict as part of our heritage.
