WE are now several weeks into the contract with “First” buses on the Lizard route, which was previously covered by Western Greyhound.
There have been several delays which have been explained away as breakdowns.
One bus was delayed at Sainsbury’s bus stop whilst waiting for a driver to appear out of the depot at Flambards, when he finally arrived he decided to wait at green lights in Helston despite no obstruction what so ever. One bus running late by-passed Kuggar and Ruan Minor by running straight from Mullion to the Lizard Village, unfortunate for anyone wishing to board the bus at the missed destinations.
I do not solely blame the drivers for delays, as it is not their fault the company supplies some buses for them to drive that give the impression that they won their MOT’s in a lucky dip. However, as a paying customer and finding the fares dearer than Western Greyhound, I am not impressed with the service. As for printing on their tickets “Become a fan on Facebook” I closed my facebook account a year ago thank goodness.
On several occasions people have walked away from bus stops when a bus has been delayed, saying that they will not bother waiting, some shared a taxi. One has to wonder if this will result in the bus company eventually stating that not enough people use a particular route.
If the service does not improve, I shall be purchasing another car as soon as finances permit.
