THOMAS Peggy (nee Lean) Peggy, dearly loved mother to Wendy and Nicholas, grandmother to Nick, Katie, Sally and Emily and sister to Frank Lean, passed peacefully at Porthgwara Nursing Home, Coverack, aged 99 years, on Wednesday 24th February 2021. Born at her grandmother's house on August 1, 1921, in Falmouth, the town where she lived her entire life except temporarily during the war when the family moved to Bolingey, Perranporth, and in 2016 when she moved to Porthgwara. During WWII Peggy served in the Women's' Royal Army Corp and was stationed in Liskeard and Plymouth. In 1945 she married Harold Thomas (who she first met, aged 6, at Falmouth High School) of the E Thomas Construction Company. She was widowed in 1973. Until recently, she was a long-time member of the Royal Cornwall Yacht Club. An accomplished pianist, lover of dogs, her home and a good party, she enjoyed travel, particularly visiting family in California and Greece. The family wishes to offer special thanks for the outstanding and compassionate care of the Porthgwara Nursing Home staff. Cremation to take place at Treswithian Downs Crematorium, Camborne.
