So sorry to hear of the passing of Mr Helmore. I was a pupil when Parc Egos School opened and he was my absolute hero - a wonderful teacher and Head!
I fondly remember the campaign to add the swimming pool (freezing!) and that he resurrected the Hal an Tow, as well as the annual plays which were always such fun.
Coincidentally, I recently found a letter he wrote after my 11 Plus results. He took the time and trouble to fight my corner to go to the Grammar School when my family moved area. It was wonderful to read how much he believed in my abilities, a truly moving letter.
I'm glad he lived a long and productive life and my condolences to his family.

My sincere condolences to Mr Helmore's family. I was among his first pupils at Gerrans school. Mr Helmore was an inspirational teacher and headteacher; much loved and respected at Gerrans. He brought great energy to the school and will be remembered, among other things, for his school productions. He left a lasting impression on so many of us. My very best wishes to you all. Remembering a life well lived. Sincerely Pat Naylor (nee Yelland)

I went to Gerrans School, and Mr Helmore was the best teacher we ever had. So inspirational and the plays he did were absolutely brilliant. So glad he had a long life. Condolences to his family
